Creative Writing Reminders


WHAT ARE THE ELEMENTS OF CREATIVE WRITING?


F Block:

Diverse sentences (structures and types)
Word Choice, vocabulary, DICTION
Syntax (how words are arranged in a sentence)
Use of figurative language
Fabulous punctuation for meaning
Details and descriptions (paint a picture with words)

Creative ideas
A story
     Plot (Dramatic Arc)
     Great, hook of an introduction

     Theme (what's the point)
     Show don't tell - give us some action
     Resolution
     No conflict, NO STORY
Characters
     Main - Protagonist(s) the conflicted good person
     Antagonist (the thing or person getting in the way of the protagonist getting what he/she wants.

Static/Dynamic  (grow and change)


H Block

NO CONFLICT, NO STORY
Climax
Beginning, Middle, End - (dramatic arc, story line, plot)
Rising Action
Characters 
      Protagonist (good, the hero, the one facing the conflict)
      Antagonist (the thing/person/character preventing the protagonist from achieving what he/she/it wants)
      Static (doesn't change)
       Dynamic (MUST GROW OR CHANGE IN SOME WAY)
